Types and forms of common valves in hydropower stations

In hydropower stations, valves come in a variety of types and forms, mainly used to control water flow, adjust pressure and protect equipment. Today, we at HYDGET will bring you a detailed introduction to some common valves:

1. Shutoff valve

Gate valve: used to completely open or close the fluid, suitable for large-diameter pipelines. It has a simple structure and low fluid resistance, but is not suitable for regulating flow.

Stop valve: controls the flow of fluid by rotating the valve stem, suitable for occasions that require frequent opening and closing. There is only one direction of fluid flow, suitable for regulating flow.

Ball valve: has good sealing performance, suitable for rapid opening and closing. The ball valve has low fluid resistance and is suitable for high pressure and large flow occasions.

Butterfly valve: controls fluid flow by rotating the valve disc, suitable for large-diameter pipelines, simple structure, light weight, suitable for regulating flow.

Plug valve: controls fluid flow by rotating the valve core, suitable for rapid opening and closing, and low fluid resistance.

2. Regulating valve

Electric regulating valve: adjusts flow through an electric actuator, suitable for automated control systems. Precise flow control can be achieved.
Pneumatic regulating valve: Regulates flow through pneumatic actuators, suitable for occasions that require quick response.

3. Pressure reducing valve

Automatic pressure reducing valve: used to automatically reduce the pressure in the pipeline to ensure the safe operation of downstream equipment. Commonly used in the water inlet pipeline of hydropower stations and the cooling system of generator sets.

4. Other valves

Check valve: used to prevent fluid backflow and ensure the safety of the system. Commonly used in the water inlet pipeline and drainage system of hydropower stations.
Exhaust valve: used to remove air in the pipeline to prevent air blockage from affecting fluid flow.

5. Special valves

Safety valve: used to protect equipment from damage caused by excessive pressure. Commonly used in boilers and pressure vessels.
Bypass valve: used to provide a bypass channel for fluid when the main valve is closed to ensure the continuous operation of the system.

Summary

There are many types of valves in hydropower stations, and various valves play an important role under different working conditions. Choosing the right valve type and form is crucial for the safe, stable and efficient operation of hydropower stations. If you are interested in the specific application or technical parameters of a certain valve, please contact us HYDGET for further discussion.
