There are two main types of solar power generation systems (also known as photovoltaic power generation systems) - off-grid and grid-connected. What is the difference between them?
First of all, "grid" refers to the national grid. So from the literal understanding, it can be concluded that
Grid-connected means that the electricity generated by solar energy is connected to the national grid before transmission and use.
Off-grid means that it is separated from the national grid and forms a self-sufficient power system through battery storage and inverter conversion
The difference between solar grid-connected and solar off-grid
Solar grid-connected power generation
One is a centralized large-scale grid-connected photovoltaic power station. Generally, they are national-level power stations. The main feature is that the generated energy is directly transmitted to the power grid, and the power grid is uniformly allocated to supply power to users. This type of power station has a large investment, a long construction period, a large area, and high later operating costs.
Another type of solar grid-connected power generation is common on rooftops in cities. Distributed construction, decentralized power generation and supply nearby, flexible entry and exit of the power grid, is conducive to enhancing the ability of the power system to resist war and disasters, and is conducive to improving the load balance of the power system and reducing line losses.
Grid-connected power generation can obtain solar power generation benefits through "generating electricity and connecting to the grid".
Solar off-grid power generation
Also known as "new energy independent power system, off-grid photovoltaic power generation", "Off-Grid Solar System, Stand-Alone Power System".
New energy independent power system relies on solar energy to generate electricity, batteries to store electricity, and controllers and inverters to manage charging and discharging and regulate voltage.
Any scene that cannot be connected to the grid but has light can be installed and used according to its own electricity demand. Compared with the high cost of building a power grid, the new energy independent power system is very economical and the installation and construction cycle is also very short. We have calculated that the installation and commissioning of a "1 kWh" system can be completed in as fast as 1 hour. Generators can also achieve independent power supply off the grid, but they are noisy and have a lot of pollution and odor.
At the same time, we at HYDGET have many years of experience and achievements in the design and supply of switchgear and power stations.
